About Pleated Silk:

Pleated silk is a special variation of the Lanh My A material from the silk region of Tan Chau, An Giang, developed by the artisans at Tam Lang Silk.

Unlike the highly reflective surface of satin, pleated silk has a micro-surface structure that creates low reflection and a unique depth of light. Light passes through the silk layer more slowly. The pleats continuously break up the flat reflective plane, creating a subtle visual movement influenced by humidity, body movement, and environmental changes.

This effect makes the color on the surface not entirely fixed.
It lives with the air.

The fabric is woven from 100% premium mulberry silk using the 8-harness satin technique, one of the most complex silk weaving methods, creating a surface that is soft, smooth, deeply colored, light, and possesses a signature light-shifting quality, while the reverse side remains matte and smooth.

Unlike standard flat silk, the pleated structure allows the 70cm fabric width to stretch naturally, creating a graceful drape while maintaining the garment's shape.

Thus, the silk is not just about color.
It possesses the physical depth of time and the dyeing process.
Each pleat is a breath of the earth, each golden glow is the warmth of the sun stored within the silk fiber.

Beyond the mysterious black of the mac nua fruit characteristic of Lanh My A, Tam Lang pleated silk offers many rustic and fresh shades such as yellow, white, and nude... all dyed entirely with forest roots such as vine, noni root, and blood dragon wood. The fabric is extremely colorfast, becoming more lustrous the longer it is used; it is cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and has a mild, gentle fragrance from the noni vine used in the dyeing process.

Tam Lang Pleated Silk is dubbed the "Queen of Silks" and is the pride of the Tan Chau silk region (now Tan Chau town, An Giang).
