• The dye is handcrafted from noni roots and natural materials from the Southern region. The dyeing and sun-drying process is repeated multiple times over several months (up to 70-100 times) to allow the color to penetrate deep into each silk fiber rather than just sitting on the surface.

There are surfaces that do not reflect light immediately.

Crinkle silk holds onto light a little longer before releasing it back into the surrounding environment.
Therefore, the color on the surface is not entirely static.
It changes slightly with body movement, air humidity, and the viewer's angle.
The small crinkles constantly alter the way light passes through the silk surface.
It does not create a glossy feeling.
It creates depth.

Kim Tinh is shaped in the style of an Ao Dai with a soft drape and natural breathing room around the body.
The Ao Dai form is kept loose and airy, creating a natural gap between the body and the layer of silk.
When moving, the dress shifts slightly with the wind, humidity, and tropical light.
The silk moves with each step but always retains a unique sense of stillness.

We wear Kim Tinh as if wearing a layer of light that has passed through a tropical climate, softer, deeper, and quieter. The body becomes lighter within the material.

Material:

The Kim Tinh Ao Dai is made from Tam Lang crinkle silk, a special variation of the Lanh My A silk system from the land of silk, Tan Chau, An Giang.

Unlike highly reflective satin, crinkle silk has a micro-surface structure that creates low reflection and a very distinct light depth. The constant crinkles break up the flat reflective surface, causing light to be absorbed and returned more slowly on the fabric surface.

Therefore, the color is not completely fixed.
It changes slightly with humidity, body movement, and the surrounding environment.

The fabric is woven from 100% natural silk using an 8-harness satin technique, one of the most complex silk weaving techniques, creating the softness, depth, and characteristic light transition of the Lanh My A silk system.

“Kim” is the yellow hue of noni roots, the color of tropical light that has softened after the rain.
“Tinh” is the state of light that is no longer exposed, possessing only depth and stillness.
The dyeing and drying process is repeated many times to allow the color to permeate deep into each fiber instead of merely resting on the surface.
