The Symphony of Stillness
Not as vibrant as sunlight, nor as boisterous as red, the lilac purple is a color of tranquility. This shade of purple evokes sunsets by the sea, when the sun gradually closes the long day and gives way to stillness. On the rustic linen fabric, this purple becomes even deeper, both elegant and approachable.
The loose-fitting, high-necked, long-sleeved ao dai – minimalist yet sophisticated – is an expression of understanding for the modern woman: no need for constraints, no need for embellishments; true beauty radiates from freedom and grace. The flowing silhouette liberates the body, allowing each step to be as light as if floating in the rhythm of nature, while still maintaining the elegant demeanor of the traditional dress.
Wearing a purple ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress), you feel enveloped in a serene atmosphere. It's the color of inner strength, maturity, and a soul calm enough to love, understand, and preserve traditional values in today's life.
The ao dai is not just for festivals; it can accompany you every day – from quiet morning coffee breaks to leisurely strolls in the afternoon sun. Above all, the ao dai is a return to one's true self, a way for us to tell our own cultural story, through simple stitches and an endless, gentle purple hue.
The Raglan ao dai, also known as the "jack-lang" ao dai, is a modernized style of ao dai that appeared in 1960, created by the Dung tailor shop in Dakao, Saigon. The biggest difference of the Raglan ao dai is that it fits the body more snugly, and the sleeves are joined diagonally from the neck down at a 45-degree angle, allowing for greater comfort and flexibility. The two panels are joined together by a row of snap buttons along the side. This style contributed to shaping the future of Vietnamese ao dai.
Outfit suggestions:
-
Pair it with pink, yellow, or orange linen or silk trousers for a vibrant contrast, or with black or light purple wide-leg silk trousers for a traditional and elegant look.
-
Pair it with minimalist accessories such as a silver necklace, pearl earrings, a delicate bracelet, and a pretty little handbag made from natural materials like straw or rattan.
-
Pointed-toe high heels, strappy sandals, or clogs are all suitable choices.
