Dance of the Afternoon Sun
The color orange is vibrant, yet it also holds a sense of tranquility, like the sunset at the end of the year – passionate, warm, and full of memories.
Crafted from rustic linen fibers, this ao dai design celebrates the absolute freedom of the body. The loose, flowing silhouette combined with the renowned Raglan sleeves not only frees the shoulders from everyday constraints but also creates soft curves with every movement. The "precious" finishing touch lies in the row of handcrafted emerald green covered buttons running along the shoulders, a subtle color-blocking reminiscent of green leaves reaching towards the summer sun. Sunlight falls on my shoulders, the wind rustles through my dress. I am embracing the serenity and grace of a woman who understands her own worth.
The Raglan ao dai, also known as the "jack-lang" ao dai, is a modernized style of ao dai that appeared in 1960, created by the Dung tailor shop in Dakao, Saigon. The biggest difference of the Raglan ao dai is that it fits the body more snugly, and the sleeves are joined diagonally from the neck down at a 45-degree angle, allowing for greater comfort and flexibility. The two panels are joined together by a row of snap buttons along the side. This style contributed to shaping the future of Vietnamese ao dai.
Outfit suggestions:
-
Pair it with turquoise, navy blue, or fuchsia linen trousers for a vibrant contrast, or with wide-leg silk trousers in white, cream, or light yellow to complete a traditional and elegant look.
-
Pair it with minimalist accessories such as a silver necklace, pearl earrings, a delicate bracelet, and a pretty little handbag made from natural materials like straw or rattan.
-
Pointed-toe high heels, strappy sandals, or clogs are all suitable choices.
