Luxurious Linen Wrinkles

“You can't wear Linen without it wrinkling for more than 30 seconds.”

The truth is...

Luxury Wrinkles

But! Don't worry about the wrinkles.

Those wrinkles are the embodiment of nature, reality, and life. As Julia Roberts (Hollywood star) said:

" You know, your face, every wrinkle on it is a story. So don't go to the doctor to rewrite your life story. As you get older, you will find yourself with your own charm."

The “luxurious wrinkles” are the unique beauty of Linen. It is not an exaggeration to say that “wrinkles” are the trademark of natural Linen fabric. There are people who feel annoyed when they always have to pay attention to the flatness of their clothes, on the contrary, there are people who really enjoy those “wrinkles”, like a small proof of the natural material of their clothes.

"Wrinkles" are what makes Linen beautiful, what makes the essence of Linen: natural and original. Linen enthusiasts proudly say that Linen's wrinkles are luxurious wrinkles, wrinkles of materials without any impurities, wrinkles of people with sophisticated fashion sense focusing on environmental friendliness and nature.

First, it is necessary to understand the wrinkling of natural fabrics in general and Linen in particular. Most natural fabrics usually have two origins:

  1. Plant origin: taken from tree components such as silk fibers, fine powder taken from tree bark, or taken from the whole tree trunk...
  2. Animal origin: typically linen, silk fabric from silkworms, wool fabric and animal skin fabrics...

However, usually only plant-based fabrics have wrinkles. Why is that?

First of all, in terms of characteristics, most plant-based fabrics undergo a rather elaborate processing. Depending on the type of plant, there are different processing methods to form the fibers. But more importantly, these steps must ensure that the fibers have a certain softness so that they can be woven into comfortable fabrics for the wearer. Not to mention other fabrics, for Flax fibers to make Linen, the manufacturer must go through many steps, from drying, stripping, soaking for a long time, spinning, etc.

In nature, Cellulose is the main component that makes up the plant cell wall, giving plant tissues mechanical strength and elasticity. In the Flax plant stem, the Cellulose component can account for up to 90%. Therefore, when going through a process of soaking, stripping, etc., the fiber in Linen fabric will expand and when exposed to water (especially hot water), it will shrink a lot. In addition, the structure of the plant fiber also makes the surface unstable, leading to wrinkles and creases. When ironed, the new fabric surface is better shaped.

With current fabric processing technology, most Polyester (synthetic) fabrics are given anti-wrinkle chemicals to create shape for dresses. Natural fabrics have separated themselves from that formula. Because, as in the case of Flax - very easy to grow and almost no chemicals are used, manufacturers will not be reckless enough to "lower themselves" to add chemicals to their organic fabric lines. If anything, it is just a small amount of chemicals at a minimum level when processing the fabric and dyeing. There are even places that imitate the "wrinkled" properties to look like natural Linen.

Remember, Flax and Linen have a long history of thousands of years. Therefore, with the ancient fabric processing method, the “anti-wrinkle” feature is completely absent. And people are too used to it. They enjoy the comfort of the material and realize that “wrinkles” seem to be the class that proves they are wearing plant-based materials.

How to use and care for Linen fabric

Linen is a natural fabric that does not require too much care, just pampering to maintain the durability and beauty of the fabric.

  • Washing: Cold or warm water. Linen can be machine washed or hand washed. If machine washed, use a gentle cycle and cold or warm water.

  • Washing powder: You can easily wash Linen products with regular washing powder/liquid. Do not use strong detergents because they can fade the color of Linen. This is a 100% natural material, so limit washing the product with cleaning chemicals.

  • Wring: Do not wring too hard. Linen fabric may wrinkle if squeezed too hard.

  • Drying : in a cool place. Do not dry Linen fabric in direct sunlight as it may cause fading. Shake vigorously to return the garment to its original shape. Linen material dries very quickly, so limit drying the product with a dryer to avoid deforming the product's shape.

  • Ironing: Iron with a steam iron on the Cotton/Linen setting. Start ironing from the inside of the garment. Linen wrinkles easily, however, the wrinkles of Linen give the garment a free and individual look. Don't hesitate to use this natural material!

  • Storage : Store Linen clothes in a cool, dry place. Humid environments can attract moths to destroy your wardrobe. If you no longer use Linen products, just wrap them in absorbent paper. When you need them, the Linen shirt will still look new and durable.
